Auto Bid Alert: WASHINGTON, OHIO, KANSAS

The March is breathless after a crazy slate of games in the 6-8 pm ET time slot. Washington was playing for a bid in the Pac-10 title game, and they did their job, holding off favored Cal 79-75, courtesy of a late clutch 3 and 2 icing free throws from The March's ethnic brother (inside joke) Venoy Overton. Washington's win is generally bad news for the bubble, as Cal will likely get a bid regardless. Justice would dictate that the extremely disappointing Pac-10 would be a one-bid league this year, but it's an unjust world.

Akron's Steve McNees did his absolute best to keep the Zips' remarkable week going. He reprised his Thursday night heroics by hitting a deep, contested 3 with 7 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 68, sending the MAC title game to overtime. He then hit another deep 3 to tie the game at 75 with 1:44 left in OT. But junior IU transfer Armon Bassett and D.J. Cooper, who combined for 48 of ninth-seeded (7-9 MAC) Ohio's 81 points, scored a basket each to put the game out of reach. Final Score, Ohio 81-75.

Finally, Kansas held off Kansas State for the Big 12 (sorry, Big XII) championship, probably dashing any hopes K-State had for a 1 seed with a 72-64 win. The Wildcats have to be burning up inside knowing that the Jayhawks were the team that kept them off the top line, and I wouldn't want to play a mad, bitter K-State team whipped into a frenzy by Frank "Terrifying Crazy Face" Martin.

Back after the MWC title game, three minutes left...
